Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day! Or, perhaps more appropriately, Happy Water Planet Day!

Instead of boring you with the history of Earth Day (although it is actually pretty interesting, see below) I wanted to share some of my favorite quotes about nature and our relationship with the planet.

As people alive today, we must consider future generations: a clean environment is a human right like any other. It is therefore part of our responsibility toward others to ensure that the world we pass on is as healthy, if not healthier, than we found it.
Dalai Lama

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.
Native American Proverb

The three great elemental sounds in nature are the sound of rain, the sound of wind in a primeval wood, and the sound of outer ocean on a beach.
Henry Beston

How inappropriate to call this planet Earth when it is quite clearly Ocean.
Arthur C Clarke

Protect the ocean and you protect yourself.
Jean-Michel Cousteau

Hopefully today we can all relate to one or two of these and hopefully, for at least a day, we’ll truly appreciate this planet we live on.
